University of Central Florida Baseball: Five-Game Week Lies Ahead
Published by Jessica Dawkins on April 19, 2010
From April 20-25, the Knights (24-14) will play a busy five game schedule at home and away. The battle starts at North Florida on Tuesday before a home game against Bethune-Cookman Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
That sets up a three game C-USA series at Marshall in Charleston, West Virginia on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
North Florida enters Tuesday with a 24-17 record, 10-4 in Atlantic Sun Conference play. With 46 homers (UCF has 49), North Florida has quite the lineup. Pitching for the Ospreys carries an ERA above 5.70, and they have a 7-5 lead in the series.
Beau Taylor should be back and in a big way for the Knights in the next five games. Since April 2, the Freshman All-American is 18-44 with a .409 average, driving in 10 runs while scoring 13.
The other supposed star of the upcoming series is Owen Dew, who has had the limelight shining on him at UCF the past couple of days.
On April 17, Dew pitched 8.1 innings, giving up just nine singles and walking only two. The Knights are 7-2 when Dew is on the mound.
