UL Lafayette Walks Off with HBP in 9th, Batter Flings Bat in Celebration
Published by Kyle Newport on May 31, 2015

After struggling to get hits all game, it was only fitting that Louisiana-Lafayette won its NCAA tournament game against Houston without having to put the bat on the ball.
In a 1-1 game in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Ragin' Cajuns' Tyler Girouard stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and one out. On a 1-1 pitch, he was hit by Cougars southpaw Aaron Fletcher.
Game over.
Girouard celebrated the game-ending hit-by-pitch by flinging his bat into the air. This was no bat flip. This was a bat launch. (Hopefully, the bat did not hit anybody.)
With the 2-1 victory, UL-Lafayette improved to 2-0 in the tournament.
