Miami Hurricanes Sweep Opening ACC Series Against VT

Game 1: UM 3 VT 1
Freshman ace Bryan Radziewski hurled seven shutout innings, allowing only three hits and striking out seven batters as he cruised to his third win of the season.
Catcher Shane Rowland and shortstop Stephen Perez knocked in RBI for the Hurricanes in the second and eighth inning.
Virginia Tech got a run off Canes closer junior Daniel Miranda in the ninth, from a Ronnie Shaban RBI. The late rally ended there as Miranda got his second save of the season.
Freshman outfielder Dale Carey, who entered the game in the eighth as a pinch runner for Chantz Mack, made a diving catch in the top of the ninth inning to rob shortstop Tim Smalling of a potential game tying extra-base hit.
Virginia Tech starter Joe Mantiply was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs in five innings. He is now 2-2.
