LSU CF Andrew Stevenson Lays out for Great Diving Catch, Doubles Up Runner
Published by Kyle Newport on June 1, 2015
Knowing that everything is on the line in the NCAA tournament, LSU center fielder Andrew Stevenson is leaving it all on the field in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
With a runner on first base and nobody out in the top of the fourth inning of Monday's regional game, North Carolina Wilmington's Luke Dunlap hit a ball to deep right-center field. Stevenson broke at the crack of the bat and sprinted toward the gap.
He made an incredible diving catch, but the play wasn't over just yet. Alertly, the junior outfielder threw the ball to first base to double up the runner, Gavin Stupienski.
Thanks to Stevenson, the Tigers kept their 2-0 lead.
