CWS 2014: Critical Info and Preview for UVA vs. Vanderbilt Game 2
Published by Kenny DeJohn on June 24, 2014
Well, nobody saw the outcome of Game 1 of the 2014 College World Series coming.
Vanderbilt took the victory over Virginia 9-8, and the Commodores are now close to winning their first ever national championship in a men's sport:
The reason nobody saw the 9-8 win coming was because of the Cavaliers' starter. Nathan Kirby, nearly untouchable all season, was roughed up in a nine-run third inning for the Commodores. Usually efficient, Kirby surrendered back-to-back-to-back walks with the bases loaded as part of a string of 14 of 26 pitches out of the strike zone.
Yeah, Monday night wasn't pretty for the team's ace.
The Cavaliers now have to step up in Game 2 or this CWS will be over. Below you'll find all the critical information you need to know for the game, as well as a preview.
