College Baseball Player Calvin Riley Killed While Playing ‘Pokemon Go’

Published by on August 8, 2016

Calvin Riley, a college baseball player at San Joaquin Delta College in California, was shot and killed Saturday in San Francisco while playing "Pokemon Go."

He was 20.

Sgt. Robert Jansing of the U.S. Park Police told Matt Hamilton of the Los Angeles Times that Riley was shot at 10 p.m. PT by an unknown gunman. He is believed to be the only victim, and officers are still investigating what led to the shooting.

"There doesn't appear to be any outstanding motive right now," said Jansing, who noted Riley was not robbed in the attack.

Gabriel Antonio Morales, Riley's cousin, set up a GoFundMe page Sunday that has since raised over $55,000, which will help pay for funeral costs.
