Baylor Baseball Concludes 2010 Season with Bow-Out Loss To TCU

The Baylor Bears baseball team, led by head coach Steve Smith, has a lot to be proud of after advancing to the championship round of the Fort Worth Regional in the 2010 Men’s College World Series.
But they also have a lot to improve on after being oh so close to a Big 12 postseason title and letting it all slip away in the final few innings of the conference championship game against arch rival Texas A&M.
Baylor’s season came to a bittersweet conclusion on Sunday evening in a 9-0 setback to highly touted TCU, dropping their second loss of the double-elimination matchups after falling 10-9 to Arizona to open regional play.
Regardless of falling early in the field of 64 teams, the Bears can still be proud they were at least able to garner a bid to postseason play—along with finishing in second place in the Fort Worth Regional.
Taking a scoreless matchup into the top of the fifth inning, No. 1 seeded TCU (49-11) racked up three runs, and never looked back, as they went on to top No. 2 seeded Baylor 9-0 to shutout the Bears and advance to the Austin Super Regional—where they will face the Texas Longhorns (49-11) next weekend.<...
