The second matchup between the final two standing at the College World Series features, once again, the offensive prowess of Arizona (47-17) and the pitching power of South Carolina (49-19).
The best-of-three series takes place at TD Ameritrade Park stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, continuing today at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
The Wildcats took the series lead yesterday with a victory over the Gamecocks, stunning the defending champions with some big-time hitting. Junior Robert Refsnyder, a fifth-round draft pick to New York, began the festivities with a two-run homer in the first inning. USC couldn't catch up to Arizona's early lead.
The Gamecocks are now forced to use stud pitcher Michael Roth in Game 2 so as to keep their quest to finish a three-peat following their claim over the 2010 and 2011 titles alive.
