Arizona State Softball Trying to Win for School and for Pac-10

Not only does the ASU softball team have a chance to make school history, but they have a chance to make conference history as well.
The Pac-10 Conference, which will become the Pac-12 in the 2011-2012 school year, has currently won 399 national championships in the 22 NCAA team sports.
If the No. 1 ASU softball team is able to finish off this magical season with the school’s 24th NCAA national championship and second softball championship, then the Pac-10 would become the first conference to win 400 team championships.
The Pac-10, which leads all conferences in national championships, is also the proud owner of just over 1,700 individual championships.
While the Pac-10 is certainly rich with both academic and athletic tradition, the Sun Devils have had their fair share of championships as well.
Arizona State has won 23 NCAA national championships in team sports and many more individual titles.
Women’s golf and baseball have been the school’s most successful teams, as they have won six and five titles, respectively.
