ACC Baseball Championship 2012: Georgia Tech’s Momentum Can’t Be Underestimated
Published by David Daniels on May 27, 2012
Momentum stings everything in its path.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets completed their improbable postseason run by knocking off the Miami Hurricanes in the 2012 ACC Tournament Championship. Not only did they guarantee themselves a spot in college baseball’s Big Dance, but they also guaranteed the fact that their opponents will be bracing themselves the rest of the year.
Georgia Tech won four straight games to take home the tourney crown. They entered with the No. 8 seed and exited as the only No. 8 seed to be the last team standing in ACC history.
The miraculous run was a team effort, but if you were to point at one individual for fueling the Yellow Jacket’s fire, that’d without a doubt be Jake Davies. The power-packed hitter recorded 11 RBIs in the four contests—two shy of the tourney record—on his way to tournament MVP.
