Arizona Wildcats Baseball: Where Their Starters Go, the Team Goes

You'd be surprised to see how far a team can go in college baseball with a very effective weekend rotation.
Usually, the way a starting rotation works in college baseball is the Friday starter is the ace of the staff. Then, you got the No. 2 and No. 3 guy in for Saturday and Sunday, afterwards you try to piece things together for the midweek games like Arizona's two-game series against Rice this Tuesday and Wednesday at Sancet Stadium. Finding the proper starters for both the weekend series and the midweek series is a challenge that every head coach takes on in the beginning of the season.
"You need six, in a great world you have eight but six would be ideal." Arizona head coach Andy Lopez said last week about his young pitching staff. "Right now we have 15, but we're trying to find eight."
Arizona's weekend starters have shown to be the key for the Wildcats' season—where they go, the team goes.
In their opening series against North Dakota State, Arizona starters went 20.2 innings, allowing only two runs and striking out 27 batters. The Wildcats swept the Bison 3-0.<...
