Live: College World Series Finals Game 2
Published by Spencer Harrison on June 24, 2014
The University of Virginia and Vanderbilt University are set to square off for Game 2 of the College World Series Finals Tuesday night at 8:00 ET. Vanderbilt leads the series 1-0 after a 9-8 victory last night. The Commodores can clinch their first College World Series championship with a win tonight.
The championship would also be the first men's championship of any kind for Vanderbilt. The only athletic championship in the school's history is the 2007 women's NCAA bowling championship. Vanderbilt will send junior Tyler Beede to the mound. Beede is 8-7 with a 3.80 ERA.
Virginia will start left-hander Brandon Waddell. Waddell, a sophomore, is 9-3 with a 2.57 ERA. The Cavaliers should feel confident coming into Game 2 even though they lost the first matchup. They were defeated in Game 1 because of a freak third inning where they surrendered nine runs. The Cavaliers shut down the Commodores for the rest of the game, and they should believe that they can keep it up in Tuesday's game.
Virginia wins 7-2.
